Fantastic, what a transformation! The work preparing the battons and masking it all so that the overspray could be pulled off easily, was well worth it. We can now look forward to a summer without a baking oven below decks and a winter without dripping condensation from freezing cold steel. The cost of this expensive treatment is easily offset by the time saving, less than 1 day to apply to a very large area, and the heating saved because of its terrific insulating qualities.
While stripping back the 1970's fitted out interior we had pulled out acres of damp rotton rock wool with layers of rust behind it and vowed not to have it again. Waterdog is constructed from overlapping iron sheets, held together with large bulbous rivets, so it is hard to get any insulation to seal completely to the hull. We think that spray foam is the only product that can protect us and protect the hull from further decay by stopping condensation. To think in global terms, we think that the use of chemicals is balanced by the saving of fossil fuels due to better insulation.
